Community based conservation

Working in villages alongside chimpanzee habitats, the projects of JGI improve the lives of local people while simultaneously saving wildlife. By engaging local communities, villagers benefit from conservation efforts and are less dependent on forest resources.


The Jane Goodall Institute is vividly active in a disadvantaged region in Senegal where unique chimpanzees are critically endangered.

Democratic Republic of Congo

In the Democratic Republic of Congo there are many threats to chimpanzees and their habitats due to human activities.
