How does JGIB collect personal data?

JGIB only collects personal data that you give us yourself or that third parties give us in the context of a service requested by us.

What personal data does JGIB collect?
    • JGIB only collects the personal data needed to carry out a service requested by you.
    • Depending on the service that you request from JGIB, we collect different types of personal data, which we limit to what is strictly necessary. For the services requested from JGIB that are listed below, we need the following data to provide you with an appropriate service:
      • to become a chimp guardian/make a chimp adoption:
        first name, surname, email address.
        Via our payment partner Mollie: amount, frequency of payment, bank card or credit card number, expiry date, bank card holder.
      • to make a donation online:
        first name, surname, email address.
        Via our payment partner Mollie: amount, frequency of payment, bank card or credit card number, expiry date, bank card holder.
      • to become a member:
        first name, surname, street, house number, postcode, municipality, email address.
        Via our payment partner Mollie: amount, bank card or credit card number, expiry date, bank card holder.
      • to sponsor trees:
        first name, surname, email address.
        Via our payment partner Mollie: amount, bank card or credit card number, expiry date, bank card holder.
      • to buy a tree package:
        first name, surname, street, house number, postcode, municipality, email address.
        Via our payment partner Mollie: amount, bank card or credit card number, expiry date, bank card holder.
      • to apply as volunteer:
        first name, surname, email address, municipality or region, phone number, language, motivation or experience or interests.
      • to subscribe for the general or a themed e-newsletter:
        email address, first name, surname, language.
      • to subscribe for an event:
        first name, surname, email address.

When and why does JGIB process personal data?
  • JGIB collects and processes your data to provide the requested services.
  • JGIB only processes these data in certain situations:
    • if you have explicitly given your permission for this;
    • or, if it is necessary to process the data in order to provide a service you have requested (e.g. your address to send documents or your bank account number for financial payments);
    • or, if we are legally obliged to process the data.
How does JGIB treat personal data?
  • Your data are only used for the service you have requested: for example, if you subscribe for one or more newsletters, we will only use your details to send you these newsletters. Every newsletter also gives you the opportunity to unsubscribe.
  • We never pass on your contact details to third parties for commercial purposes.
  • We only share your personal data with the JGIB service providers where this is necessary to provide the service in question:
    • for data requested for volunteer application and newsletter subscriptions we work with the data processing company Mailchimp.
    • for all payments, when making a donation or application to become a chimp guardian we work with the data processing company Mollie.
  • We do not sell any personal data to third parties or pass on data to third parties.
How long does JGIB keep personal data?

JGIB undertakes to keep your data for no longer than is necessary for the provision of our services within the context for which we collected the data.

Does JGIB keep my personal data safe?
  • Your data are processed in a way that is safe. We therefore use security technologies and measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, use, loss or publication. These technologies and measures are tested and updated if necessary.
  • If any incident should nevertheless arise involving your data, you will be personally informed under the circumstances stipulated by law.
  • The number of employees who have access to your data is very limited. These carefully selected employees are only given access to your personal data insofar as they need that information to carry out their work appropriately so that the services you have requested can be provided.
  • When we do share personal data with external parties (e.g. when making an online donation), a processing agreement is concluded which always includes adequate (technical) measures to guarantee the security of your data.
What can I do about my own personal data?

  • You have the right to be ‘forgotten’. To request this, please contact info@janegoodall.be
  • You can access any of your personal data that are processed by JGIB, view the data and correct or delete any data that are incorrect or incomplete.
  • If you consider that your data have been handled incorrectly, you can submit a complaint to the Privacy Commission.
